6. SamSACU water consumption

Our goal!

According to 2020, Uzbekistan is known to use 169% of its water reserves, and according to these indicators, our country is among the 20 arid countries of the world where water stress is observed. Thus, water resource defecation is observed in our country. In response, Samarkand State University of Architecture Construction set its goals for the development of society by developing a culture of Water Resource Management, developing research on innovative solutions and training future generations in sustainable water and sanitation practices.

SamSACU water consumption

Ensuring the use of clean drinking water is an important part of creating a healthy and supportive learning environment for students. In addition to quenching thirst, water stimulates concentration and cognitive functions. In addition to it, water serves an important function in the protection of the environment, in the organization and irrigation of green areas.

The total land area in Shahar B of Samarkand State University of Architecture and Construction (SamSACU) is equal to 11.94 hectares, of which 5.14 hectares correspond to green areas. Groundwater is used for irrigation purposes of these green areas. A total of 5 small water wells were installed for irrigation purposes in 2022. These wells draw water from a depth of 60 m. the work of the Wells is organized on the basis of energy-efficient and technologies that prevent groundwater extraction. Green spaces consist of trees, flowers and grasses that require little water. Sprinkler and droplet irrigation were used in the irrigation system to save water.

The university is providing its drinking water needs through its 2 water wells. It is obtained from wells from a layer of clean water from a depth of 107 meters.  For the purpose of effective use and management of Water Resources, 2 water measuring instruments are installed. In the water supply system, special water purification bacteria processing (bactriacite) equipment is installed at the entrance to the premises. During 2022, the amount of actual used drinking and water left for irrigation used at the University is 110 thousand m3.
